Galápagos Islands
The Galapagos Islands are on my list of places to visit, but pretty far down. I want to go to Patagonia more. Still, there is something so romantic about the islands. I read a book, The Evolution of Jane, which took place on a cruise down there. It gave me just a taste of what it would be like to go, but I think it was seeing Master & Commander that really got me going. I probably won't ever make it, but it is definitely worth being on the list.
It really does look like another planet.
In the end it is all about visiting the locals. =)
Cool map, I always pictured it farther south. I think I was confusing it with Easter Island.

New Zealand
Some day, some day I will make it there. I can't remember if I said this before when I posted about Tasmania, but I have this dream of taking a six month trek down under. I want to take my time and visit New Zealand and Australia. It is a seriously long trip, and I figure do it once, do it right.

Notre Dame
I have been slowly putting up pictures on Instagram. I took a couple of thousand pictures when I went to Europe in 2010. I've had a terrible time organizing them. I actually want to make a coffee table book, just another thing on my to-do list.
Although I didn't have the best time in France, I did see some incredibly beautiful things, Notre Dame being one of them. I really liked how these shots turned out. I used the Lo-Fi filter. They look pretty cool. The first shot is of the front, of course, the second is of a side door, and the third is of the back. The back was actually a really pretty park. I loved the spires on the back side as well.

While I am fixating on gorgeous tropical locations. Here's another shot I pinned this week of our beautiful Hawaii.
krabi
I pinned the picture with the swing because I love swings, and it looked like paradise to me. Then I found out where that shot was taken. Turns out it IS paradise by way of Krabi Thailand Holy Crap!!! This place is stunningly beautiful, and definitely someplace I'd like to visit. I love the tall island rocks and the white sandy beaches. While I am stuck in very cold, very wet Seattle, I think this actually kinda hurts. =(
Sadly I am not familiar with the county of Thailand, so this map was really good for me to see. Look at all that coast!!

Taranto
Earlier this week I posted a painting done by Frederick Marriott of Taranto Italy. I had not heard of Taranto, so I checked it out. Turns out it is located on the Southern coast of Italy. It was first populated by Greek exiles, who were men born out of wedlock. Apparently the Greeks turned a blind eye to unmarried women having sons for a period of time, as the Spartans needed soldiers, and didn't really care if they were legitimate or not. Eventually these poor lads were deemed unsuitable for Spartan society, and were banished to the Southern Italian coast. Ungrateful brutes!! Taranto was then born.
I think I am going to need to make at least two more trips to Italy. I really want to spend time in both the Northern and Southern regions. I can dream can't I?

Étretat
To be honest, there wasn't a lot on my To See list when I went to France, but Étretat was definitely one of them. Sadly I didn't get to the coast or Giverny. If I get an opportunity to return to France, I will definitely make both a priority.
Étretat came to my attention, not surprisingly, through Monet. His paintings of the area are some of my favourites of his. This beautiful stretch of coast, that mirrors the White Cliffs of Dover that lie across the channel, is one of my favourites in the world. I do have a love of natural arches. A sudden snow storm lead to an unplanned visit to Arches National Park, which was fantastic. I should see if I can find my pictures from that trip. These places to me are earth's art, just stunning. I never thought I would get to Iceland, so I believe there's a chance I will get back to France and see Étretat.

Santiago & Vina del Mar
My friend's husband just made a pre-Christmas trip to Chile to visit their son who's doing a semester abroad, and I had an opportunity to chat with him about it at a party we were at the other night. He visited both the capital city of Santiago, and the coastal city of Vina del Mar. He raved about both. In fact, his brother in-law who went with him was so impressed with Chile he's considering retiring there.
Chile has been on my to visit list for quite some time, that's a post for another day, but I hadn't really considered going to Santiago. It is far more urban than I would have expected. I think that's shows how naive I am about South America. It really looks like a beautiful city. Dave said that the food was amazing, and really cheap. Sounds like a win win to me.
They also visited the coastal city of Vina del Mar, which is apparently a major tourist stop in Chile. No wonder, it looks gorgeous too. They had an incredible time. His excitement over their trip really made me envious. It will be a while before I get to go anywhere again, maybe next year. All I know is that my list of places to visit gets longer and longer.

Navagio Beach, Greece
This shot is probably one of the most iconic of Greece. It is Navagio Beach or Shipwreck Beach on the coast of Zakynthos. The MV Panagiotis is thought to be be a smugglers ship, and has been beached there since October 1, 1980.
What I don't ever see is this shot from the other direction.
