To be honest, there wasn't a lot on my To See list when I went to France, but Étretat was definitely one of them. Sadly I didn't get to the coast or Giverny. If I get an opportunity to return to France, I will definitely make both a priority.
Étretat came to my attention, not surprisingly, through Monet. His paintings of the area are some of my favourites of his. This beautiful stretch of coast, that mirrors the White Cliffs of Dover that lie across the channel, is one of my favourites in the world. I do have a love of natural arches. A sudden snow storm lead to an unplanned visit to Arches National Park, which was fantastic. I should see if I can find my pictures from that trip. These places to me are earth's art, just stunning. I never thought I would get to Iceland, so I believe there's a chance I will get back to France and see Étretat.
