Following your bliss is not self-indulgent, but vital; your whole physical system knows that this is the way to be alive in this world and the way to give to the world the very best that you have to offer. There IS a track just waiting for each of us and once on it, doors will open that were not open before and would not open for anyone else. - Joseph Campell

Prime Suspect

Finished re-watching the groundbreaking and fantastic Prime Suspect series.  Well, all but the last installment. Netflix doesn't have the last one streaming. Boo!!  It was so cool to watch the series from the beginning again.  The thing that really stuck out to me was how technology has changed over the course of the series. Watching poor Haskons being stuck on the phone calling around to get information, as they didn't have computers in the first series! To seeing the boys being introduced to them, and then the chunky black cell phones come along. Eventually Britain's CCT made it easier to catch the criminals, as everyone's every move is now recorded.  The trip down memory lane made watching them that much more fun.

It had been a long time since I had originally watched the series.  It was fun to see all the actors I now know. Not just Ralph Fiennes, who played a small role in the first series, but Tom Wilkinson, Colin Salmon, David Thewlis, a very young Danny Dyer, Mark Strong (two times), Peter Capaldi (amazing performance!), Lesley Sharp, Kelly Reilly, Steven Macintosh (another amazing performance), Marsha Thomason,  Ben Miles, and the always yummy Liam Cunningham. Fantastic casting!

Of course at the center of it all is Helen Mirren, and her flawed Jane Tennison.  I particularly love how she can be so abrasive and down right mean to people. Not that being mean is good, but it makes a good character.  Tennison is one of the best.  How wonderful that one of the best actresses ever, got to play one of the best characters ever?  Truly.
