Following your bliss is not self-indulgent, but vital; your whole physical system knows that this is the way to be alive in this world and the way to give to the world the very best that you have to offer. There IS a track just waiting for each of us and once on it, doors will open that were not open before and would not open for anyone else. - Joseph Campell

MET Gala 2013

Oy!  Usually the Met Gala has more pretty than not, but this year I felt that everyone looked horrible.  This year's award season saw a lot of diversity with the gowns, which I thought was refreshing.  I especially liked the metallic gowns.  Helen Hunt's comes to mind.  The year's Met Gala was a whole different story.  It looked like everyone was hit with an 80's gun, and not in a good way.  Elegance has given way busy prints, scissored lines and chunky bits.  Jennifer Lawrence (OMG! I hate that J Law business. Whoever came up with that should be banished!) was the stand out for me.  Call me a simple, but I thought her dress was the easiest on the eyes.

PS:  I had to put a little addendum on this because it wasn't until I saw on gp's latest issue of goop that I saw the MET Gala had a punk theme this year, which would explain why I hated all the dresses.  I was unaware of that, and don't recall noticing a theme in previous years.  Makes total sense, and looks like Jennifer didn't read her invite because she is not punked out at all (at least to my eyes).  Way to keep it classy Jen!
