Following your bliss is not self-indulgent, but vital; your whole physical system knows that this is the way to be alive in this world and the way to give to the world the very best that you have to offer. There IS a track just waiting for each of us and once on it, doors will open that were not open before and would not open for anyone else. - Joseph Campell

Jill Barber & James Hunter

I came across two artists recently who have captured the style of old brilliantly, not unlike Nick Waterhouse, but a little truer to the original sound.

Jill Barber

I discovered Jill Barber when I read that she did a co-headlining tour with fellow Canadian Michael Kaeshammer.  That would have been an amazing show.  At first listen I thought she really sounded a lot like Julia Stone, but she really has a sound all her own.  I got her album Mischievous Moon, and it is really good start to finish.  I'm so glad I found her.

This is a really well done video for her song Oh My My.

James Hunter

I discovered Englishman James Hunter on The Triple Door website.  He is going to be playing there in a month or so.  I decided I would check him out, and really loved what I heard.  His songs are great. I don't think I'll go to the show, although I am sure it will be awesome.  Like Jill's Mischievous Moon, James' The Hard Way is perfect start to finish. They are both unique sounds, but totally old school.

Here's the video for his song Carina.
