I just finished watching series one through four of Agatha Christie's Marple. I had wanted to watch these for a while mainly because most of my favourite British actors have appeared in a Marple at one point or another. Turns out I highly enjoyed them, Christie creates such fun characters. In fact her characters are so fun there were a few times where I was disappointed who ended up being the killer because I liked the characters so much, like The Sittaford Mystery and Towards Zero.
Then there is the whole business of Geraldine McEwan retiring. I feel bad saying this, but I really didn't like her as Marple. I didn't realize how much until I had a few of Julia McKenzie's cases under my belt. Geraldine would just make these funny faces all the time. It was quite odd. I noticed almost immediately how Julia was actually engaged with the people around her. I was already a fan of hers going in, and really think she does a wonderful job. No offense to Miss McEwan.
Bottom line: I enjoyed the show much more than I thought I would, and am looking forward to seeing more in the future.
