The Lawyer by Cezanne
I'd have to say that Monet and Cezanne are my two favourite Impressionist painters. I love Cezanne's landscapes and still lifes. However, whilst watching Tim Marlow's Impressionist programme, I saw Cezanne's The Lawyer. It is an earlier painting of his uncle Dominique posing as a lawyer.
What I love is the thickness of the strokes, the contrast between the stark black and the rich neutrals punctuated by the lovely blue.
