The Lawyer by Cezanne

I'd have to say that Monet and Cezanne are my two favourite Impressionist painters.  I love Cezanne's landscapes and still lifes.  However, whilst watching Tim Marlow's Impressionist programme, I saw Cezanne's The Lawyer.  It is an earlier painting of his uncle Dominique posing as a lawyer. 

What I love is the thickness of the strokes, the contrast between the stark black and the rich neutrals punctuated by the lovely blue.
