Following your bliss is not self-indulgent, but vital; your whole physical system knows that this is the way to be alive in this world and the way to give to the world the very best that you have to offer. There IS a track just waiting for each of us and once on it, doors will open that were not open before and would not open for anyone else. - Joseph Campell

Art History Moment

Boreas by John William Waterhouse

I love the Pre-Raphaelites and Waterhouse is by far my favourite.  Boreas is one of my favourites, although it is really hard to pick just one.

The thing that I love about the Pre-Raphaelites is that their paintings tell stories, some we know and some we don't.  Boreas, being the Greek god of the Northern wind, simply captures a windblown woman.

I've always been drawn to the colors, but I also love the movement of the fabric.  As with every Waterhouse painting there is also the backdrop.  I have a deep love of his distant periwinkle mountain tops.

I recently came across this photo, which instantly made me think of Boreas.
