Following your bliss is not self-indulgent, but vital; your whole physical system knows that this is the way to be alive in this world and the way to give to the world the very best that you have to offer. There IS a track just waiting for each of us and once on it, doors will open that were not open before and would not open for anyone else. - Joseph Campell

János Vaszary

János Vaszary (1867—1938) was a Hungarian painter who apparently worked in many different styles.  I was actually surprised that the Lake Balaton piece was done in 1905.  When I decided to post this painting, I was expecting it to be by a modern artist.  The colors are just perfect.  This is something I would actually put on my wall, just beautiful.

Lake Balaton is in the transdanubian area of Hungary, and is the largest lake in Central Europe.

Here are a couple more of János' works I really like.

It is the use of the thick black charcoal lines that I love about this one.  Sadly, I couldn't find a name for it.

Love, love, love the brushstrokes on this one.
